About Me

Debi Lewis was born in Canada and now makes her home in Scarborough, England. By day she works for the British charity Mind and by night she is a writer.

She started writing as a child and was encouraged by a teacher who asked her to read her short story out loud to the class, a short story which Debi thought must not be very good because the teacher kept making suggestions to improve it. After she finished reading it though, one of the young lads in the class who was a bit of a class clown was shocked and said “did you really write that?” and she took it as the most encouraging of critiques.

She has been published on the CBC website in Canada for the celebration of the Canada 150 birthday celebrations with a short memoir from her early years about a tree house.

She has also been long-listed with the CWA Margery Allingham short story contest in 2014.

Debi is married and has two children. In her spare time (which is limited) she can be found practising karate or learning to crochet. Debi loves to bake, especially when she should be writing.
